Scholarships for Eastern Oregon Educators
The Eastern Oregon REN is pleased to offer four scholarship opportunities for eastern Oregon educators and those interested in pursuing a career in education.
Applications for the following scholarships are now closed and under review. Please check back for updates about future scholarship opportunities.
- EOREN Endorsement Incentive Program
Please complete this section if you have recently added an endorsement to your current license and would like to apply for the EOREN Incentive. Incentives shall not exceed $4,000 per successful applicant.
In order to be eligible for the incentive applicants must:
Must currently hold an Oregon teaching license, which qualifies for additional endorsements.
Must currently be employed in one of the EOREN school districts (any public or charter school district in Grant, Harney, Lake, Malheur, or Wallowa counties as well as Huntington School District in Baker County).
Provide documentation of the successful addition of a qualified endorsement added to the applicant's teaching license in either 2023-24 or 2024-25 school years.
Identify a direct and immediate benefit to students within the district.
Submit this application form prior to April 30, 2025.
Applications for Endorsement Incentives will be reviewed and awarded according to the following timeline:
Round 1 Applications for Endorsement Incentives must be submitted no later than April 30, 2024. Applicants will be notified by May 17, 2024.
Round 2 Applications for Endorsement Incentives must be submitted no later than April 30, 2025. Applicants will be notified by May 16, 2025.
Please Note: Completing this application form does not guarantee the applicant an endorsement incentive payment. This is a competitive program, with incentives provided only to those qualified EOREN educators adding endorsements with the greatest impact on students within the region, as evaluated by the Regional Action Recruitment Team.

2. EOREN Grow Your Own Scholarship Opportunities
Please respond to the questions below to help us determine which scholarship you are interested in applying for. Currently, there are three competitive scholarship opportunities available:
EOREN Classified & Emergency Educator Advancement Scholarship Program - (up to $10,000/award) for individuals currently working in EOREN districts interested in completing their Bachelor's degree and obtaining their initial teaching license. Preference given to those who will complete their degree within the next 1-2 years.
EOREN MAT Secondary Scholarship Program - (up to $15,000/award) for individuals seeking a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and who plan to work in an EOREN district. Preference given to those planning to teach at the secondary level.
EOREN Rural Teacher Kickstart Program - (up to $20,000/award) for traditional college students interested in teaching in an EOREN district for a minimum of 2 years following graduation. Must have junior or senior standing at their institution prior to Fall 2024 in order to be eligible for this award.
These scholarships can be used at any accredited University, and are separate from the scholarships available in partnership with the Eastern Oregon University Foundation.

2a. EOREN Classified & Emergency Educator Advancement Scholarship Program
Please complete this section if you would like to apply for the EOREN Classified & Emergency Educator Advancement Scholarship. Scholarship amounts shall not exceed $5,000 per year, per successful applicant (or $10,000 total per applicant).
In order to be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:
Be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate Teacher Licensure Program
Agree to work in one of the 40 EOREN districts for at least two years following program completion
Preference will be given to those who:
Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
Are currently working in one of the 40 EOREN districts as an instructional assistant, or similar position (e.g. educational assistant, paraprofessional, etc.), or as an emergency licensed classroom educator
A resident of Huntington, Oregon or Grant, Harney, Lake, Malheur, or Wallowa counties
Demonstrate financial need
Are supported by their employer-district in their path of continuing education as evidenced by a letter of recommendation from the applicant's current district
Come from a diverse background (socio-economic, ethnicity, linguistic, etc.)
Applications for the Classified & Emergency Educator Advancement Program will be reviewed and awarded according to the following timeline:
Applications must be submitted no later than April 30, 2024. Applicants will be notified by May 17, 2024.
EOREN Classified & Emergency Educator Advancement Applicants - please submit a letter of recommendation from your current district administrator.
2b. EOREN MAT Secondary Scholarship Program
Please complete this section if you would like to apply for the EOREN MAT Secondary Scholarship. Scholarships shall not exceed $15,000 per successful applicant.
In order to be eligible for this scholarship applicants must:
Be enrolled full-time in an accredited MAT program
Agree to work in one of the 40 EOREN districts as an educator in English, Math, Music, Social Studies, Science, or World Languages for at least two years following graduation from the MAT program.
Preference will be given to those who:
Must be a resident of Huntington, OR; or Grant, Harney, Lake, Malheur, or Wallowa counties
Are currently working in one of the 40 EOREN Districts.
Are planning to teach at the secondary level
Are supported by their employer-district in their path of continuing education as evidenced by a letter of recommendation from the applicant's current district.
Applications for the MAT Scholarship will be reviewed and awarded according to the following timeline:
Applications must be submitted no later than April 30, 2024. Applicants will be notified by May 17, 2024.
EOREN MAT Secondary Scholarship Applicants - please submit a letter of recommendation from your current district administrator. If you do not currently work for a school district, please submit a letter of recommendation from a professor or employee of a school district who can speak to your personal character and your professional capacity to become a high quality educator.
2c. EOREN Rural Teacher Kickstart Program
Please complete this section if you would like to apply for the EOREN Rural Teacher Kickstart Scholarship. Scholarship shall be up to, but not exceeding $20,000 per successful applicant.
In order to be eligible for the incentive applicants must:
Be enrolled full-time in a degree-granting program
Those who agree to work in one of the 40 EOREN districts at the secondary educator level for at least two years following graduation
Be enrolled as an undergraduate with a major in Education
Be of junior or senior standing as of October 1, 2024
Preference will be given to those who:
Are a resident of Huntington, OR or Grant, Harney, Lake, Malheur, or Wallowa counties
Will graduate prior to June 30, 2025
Applications for the Rural Teacher Kickstart Scholarship will be reviewed and awarded according to the following timeline:
Round 1 Applications must be submitted no later than April 30, 2024. Applicants will be notified by May 17, 2024.
Round 2 Applications (if funds remain available) must be submitted no later than April 30, 2025. Applicants will be notified by May 16, 2025.
