Future Educator Program
2025 Future Educator Program Sign-Up
The Eastern Oregon REN invites districts to sign-up students to participate in the EOU Future Educator Program for the 2025 Spring Semester. The Future Educator Program is a pilot program offered in partnership between EOU and the Eastern Oregon REN.
For this upcoming semester the following courses will be offered:
ED119 - Future Educator I (3 credits): EOU will work with individual districts to design as an in-person, online synchronous, or online asynchronous option for your students
ED139 - Future Educator II (3 credits): EOU will work with individual districts to design as an in-person, online synchronous, or online asynchronous option for your students; completion of ED119 is a prerequisite of this course
ED109 - Education Lab (1-3 credits depending on time; 30hrs required/credit): this is a dual-credit option for students interested in serving in your school as a Teacher's Assistant for the semester
Program Purpose:
To promote and generate interest in the field of education within local districts and among local high school students;
To increase equitable access to dual credit opportunities in our rural students; and
To eventually increase the number of high quality educators seeking opportunities to work in our schools.
Eligibility:
Any 10-12th grade student(s) from any EOREN district (Grant, Harney, Lake, Malheur, and Wallowa County Schools, or Huntington SD in Baker County)
Cost:
Credits will be through Eastern Oregon University
For this semester, the Eastern Oregon REN will reimburse the cost of credits successfully completed by students. Each district should submit a request for credit reimbursement to the Eastern Oregon REN via Program/Finance Specialist, Kate Russell (Kate.Russell@malesd.org) no later than May 15, 2025 (please list all student names and associated number of credits completed in the invoice).
Please sign-up your students using this form by January 6, 2025. EOU will be in contact with the listed district contacts in order to get the class set-up for the January start.
