GYO Scholarship Opportunity
The Eastern Oregon REN is continuing its Educator Housing Project and is seeking letters of interest from member districts interested in receiving financial support to address local educator housing challenges. For this cycle, we are expanding our focus to include remodeling or updating existing educator housing located on district-owned property, in addition to building or purchasing a new small home, mobile home, or tiny house.
To be eligible, districts must:
Be located within the Eastern Oregon REN region (Baker County - Huntington SD only, Grant, Harney, Lake, Malheur, or Wallowa Counties)
Own the property where the housing project will take place prior to project initiation (on-or off-campus);
Be willing to manage all associated permitting, utilities, and maintenance prior to and following project completion;
Be able to obtain board or administrative approval to move forward with the project by July 30, 2025.
Use housing to support licensed educator recruitment and retention in the district.
Due to limited funding, not all projects will be selected. Letters of interest will be evaluated based on:
Clear demonstration of need (i.e., housing as a key barrier to educator recruitment /retention);
The potential student impact of the project;
Whether the district has previously received an EOREN housing grant.
The EOREN Regional Recruitment Action Team will review submitted letters of interest and invite selected districts to submit a full application. Notifications will be sent by July 1, 2025.
