Scholarship Opportunities
As part of the Eastern Oregon REN's ongoing effort to help recruit and retain high quality educators in rural communities, the EOREN EOU Foundation is offering the following scholarship opportunities for students enrolled for the 2024-25 school year:
EOREN EOU Instructional Assistant / Emergency License Scholarship Program
Scholarship Amount: $5,000 per student (automatically renewable for a maximum of one additional year so long as the recipient continues to meet the selection criteria).
Selection Criteria:
Must be enrolled as an undergraduate in the Hybrid Elementary Education Program at Eastern Oregon University;
Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher;
Must be a resident of Huntington, Oregon or Grant, Harney, Lake, Malheur, or Wallowa counties;
Preference given to:
Those who agree to work in one of the 40 EOREN districts for at least two years following program completion;
Those who are currently working in one of the 40 EOREN districts as an instructional assistant, or similar position (e.g. educational assistant, paraprofessional, etc.), or as an emergency licensed classroom educator;
Those who demonstrate financial need;
Those who are supported by their employer-district in their path of continuing education as evidenced by a letter of recommendation from the applicant's current district.
EOREN EOU Online MAT Secondary Scholarship
Scholarship Amount: $15,000 per student
Selection Criteria:
Must be enrolled full-time in the MAT program at Eastern Oregon University
Must be a resident of Huntington, OR; or Grant, Harney, Lake, Malheur, or Wallowa counties
Preference given to:
Those who intend to work in one of the 40 EOREN districts as a secondary educator in English, Math, Music, Social Studies, Science, or World Languages for at least two years following graduation from the MAT program.
Those who are currently working in one of the 40 EOREN Districts.
Those who are supported by their employer-district in their path of continuing education as evidenced by a letter of recommendation from the applicant's current district.
EOREN EOU Rural Teacher Kickstart Program
Selection Criteria:
Must be enrolled full-time in a degree-granting program at Eastern Oregon University
Must be a resident of Huntington, OR or Grant, Harney, Lake, Malheur, or Wallowa counties
Must be enrolled as an undergraduate with a major in Education
Must be of senior standing
Preference given to:
Those who intend to work in one of the 40 EOREN districts at the secondary educator level for at least two years following graduation.
