Outdoor School and SEL

Outdoor school provides a unique opportunity for both educators and students to utilize the immersive nature experience to foster social and emotional learning (SEL). In this virtual workshop, we will explore the link between equity and social-emotional learning, share and practice strategies for supporting social-emotional competencies, consider how social-emotional learning shows up in outdoor school and how that differs from the classroom context, and provide a framework for supporting students in outdoor school moving forward. We invite participants who are new to SEL and those who have plenty of experience supporting SEL in outdoor school.
